This year, PT Gunung Hijau Masarang was selected to be one of the best small and medium companies in the province of North Sulawesi. PT Gunung Hijau Masarang competed with six other small and medium companies before being successfully elected as the recipient of the SIDDHAKARYA productivity award 2016.
The event is organized by the Department of Manpower & Transmigration of North Sulawesi province and the awards were presented by the Governor of North Sulawesi Province.
SIDDHARKARYA productivity award is intended for small and medium sized companies that are believed to have reached a fairly high level of productivity and good competitiveness. The event is held every two years. This award ceremony was held on October 14, 2016 at Sahid Hotel in Manado and was attended by the Director General of Productivity Ministry of Labor of the Republic of Indonesia (Mrs. Estianti Hariani), Assistant Two of Governance and Public Welfare (Mr. Sanny Parengkuan) who represented the Governor of North Sulawesi who was unable to attend in person, Head of the Department of Manpower & Transmigration North Sulawesi Province (Mr. Marthen Senduk) along with other members of government and the representatives of the six small and medium companies that were selected.
The three small companies selected were; UD. Independent from Southeast Minahasa, UD. Love (Christine Klapertaart) from Manado, UD. Trikora from Manado.
The three medium companies were; PT. Gunung Hijau Masarang from Tomohon, PT. Coco from South Minahasa Prima and PT. Multifood from Manado.
Several employees of PT Gunung Hijau Masarang attended the aware ceremony as follows: Mrs. Priskilla Reo (Head of Admin & Finance), Mr Fanny Palar (Head of Production Dept. of Masarang Sugar Factory), Mr. Hanny Pontoh (Quality Control Officer), Mrs. Yunita Moningka (Administration) & Ms. Selina Wowiling (Sales Support)
The SIDDHAKRYA event, organized by the Department of Manpower and Transmigration of North Sulawesi province aims to provide appreciation for all small and medium enterprises in the whole province of North Sulawesi.
Also according to the Director General of Productivity Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia, Mrs. Estianti Hariani said in her speech, that events like this provide the government with the opportunity to socialise, facilitate, audit and motivate all small and medium enterprises at the provincial level, in this case the province of North Sulawesi, with the hope of increasing the productivity of the companies and improving the welfare of workers, whilst impacting economic growth at a regional and national level. The existence of this event will also help to motivate small and medium companies who can then go on to measure the extent to which the level of productivity and competitiveness has improved via internal evaluation.
In this event, the Department of Manpower and Transmigration at Provincial Level also provides socialization, training and auditing of the 5S Program (Sisih, Susun, Sasap, Sosoh, Suluh) which is recommended to be applied in the enterprise / business.

The original terms, namely; Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke.
1. Seiri / sisih:
整理 (seiri), Brief, an activity to get rid of items that are not needed so that all the items in the work site are only those which are really needed in work activities.
2. Seiton / susun:
整頓 (Seiton), Neat, everything must be placed according to the set position ready for use when needed.
3. Seiso / Sasap:
清楚 (Seiso), Rehearsal, an activity of cleaning equipment and work areas so that all work equipment is maintained in good condition.
4. Seiketsu / sosoh:
清潔 (Seiketsu), Rawat, a personal hygiene activity while complying with the previous three stages.
5. Shitsuke / suluh: 躾 け (Shitsuke), Diligent, namely the maintenance of discipline of each individual employee in performing all phases of 5S.
Each company that received the SHIDDAKARYA award was asked to choose one work location within the company to apply the 5S program model. Ms. Priskila Reo, Head of Admin & Finance at PT.Gunung Hijau Masarang declared that the administration team of the Masarang Palm Sugar Factory would apply this model to the administrative departments work space.
